Dear Knight News Challenge Applicant,

We are writing to let you know that we have selected your project as a semifinalist in the Knight News Challenge. Your project joins 55 others in this next stage of the contest.

First: Congratulations! We selected your project from 704 entries because we feel it fits the theme and spirit of the challenge, and because we want to learn more about what you would do to make this idea a reality.

Second: Through April 28, your project will be part of our “refinement” phase. We are asking you to submit additional information, so please read the following carefully:

• By April 28 at 5 p.m. U.S. Eastern Time, we are asking you to add two things to your entry page at newschallenge.org:
   
  1. Any revisions you wish to make to your entry based on community feedback and questions, and whatever else you may want to add.
      
  2. Answers to a few additional questions specific to your project, which we identified during our initial review. We will send these questions to you via email on Monday, April 21.

On April 28 at 5 p.m. ET, our team and a group of outside reviewers will begin examining semifinalist proposals with the aim of selecting a group of finalists, with whom we will conduct interviews and due diligence. This process will be completed off of the News Challenge website in private. We will contact you by May 12 to let you know whether your project is moving forward as one of the finalists.
