The Library Freedom Project educates librarians about surveillance
threats, privacy, and digital tools to stop censorship. They are having
an event, "Digital rights in libraries," on June 29+30 at Noisebridge in
San Francisco.

https://libraryfreedomproject.org/SafeSignUp/

The event is focused on librarians, but they want participation from
more than just librarians: technologists, attorneys, and privacy
advocates for example. There will be speakers and trainers from Mozilla,
Creative Commons, EFF, the Internet Archive, and more. There will be
three tracks:
* privacy, censorship, access, and other digital rights
* technology training (crypto party–like)
* unconference, self-proposed session ideas
I heard from the main organizer, Alison Macrina, that they are
especially wanting help with the technology training sessions. If you
know how to teach the use of privacy and crypto tools, or just answer
questions, you could be a lot of help. You're also welcome even if you
just want to attend and do not have a library affiliation.

The Library Freedom Project seems pretty legit. Here is a guest post on
the Tor blog explaining more about the project:
